Midwest Valve Services Preventative Maintenance (PM) — Actuator Survey & Inspection

Actuators are often subjected to extreme service conditions and get little attention or maintenance until problems arise. A PM Survey is the best way to gauge reliability, schedule future repairs, and budget for outages and turnarounds. Key actions we take during our PM Survey include:

  • Recording actuator and name plate data, and providing pictorial report documentation (accessible through our portal)
  • Visual inspection for stress fractures, loose bolting, grease leaks, and damaged wires
  • Manually stroking the actuator and opening limit switches
  • Checking for noise bearings, binding, and electrical current deviations during operation
  • Removing a small grease sample to be inspected and analyzed
  • Creating a Summary Survey Report that prioritizes our repair recommendations
